a bit about me

Hello!
I'm Taylor. I love to travel, sail, play racquetball, eat artichokes, explore, play guitar, make new friends, watch Guy Richie films, headbang to either hard rock or Celtic music, and as you can see...
I love my job.

One of my favorite things about capturing wedding days...

Are the mini stories in between.

Of course, the wedding day is about the couple.

But it's also about everything that shaped them.
The loved ones who couldn't be there, the best friend who's been there since day 1, the dad holding back tears before the ceremony starts, the mom straightening the tie before walking down the aisle. Everyone that made you who you are, as individuals, and as a couple.

My Scrapbook

Welcome to my scrapbook!

Here I've detailed an unnecessarily long story of how I came to call myself a wedding filmmaker, from the moment I was hooked to the why behind everything I do. I now split my time between California and Hawaii, traveling whenever I can, always chasing new places and the stories that come with them.

My approach for your wedding is simple: I care more about how your day felt than how it looked, and I film it in a way that lets you relive it.

It started with a photo

While visiting my sweet grandparents in Idaho, I started flipping through stashed away photo albums in a dusty cabinet and came across old photos of my parents on their wedding day. I was drawn to them in a way I hadn't experienced before. There they were, completely in love, celebrating their wedding in 1997.

I brought the photos back home to show my mom. She hadn't seen them in decades. I expected her to laugh and maybe comment on the outdated dress, but instead, I watched tears fall down her face. I could only wonder what she was feeling in that moment.

Time passes so fast, I realized. And it's keepsakes like these that allow us to hold onto important memories. Those photos took her back to how it felt on her wedding day.

Back in Utah, I got asked to film my sister's wedding. I wasn't completely confident I could do it (a wedding is a BIG deal and there's a lot of responsibility in capturing moments that can't be redone) but decided to jump on the opportunity and said yes!

I dove in. I researching what being a wedding videographer really meant, how to do it well, and the timeline of a wedding day.

When the big day came, I was ready. To my surprise, I loved it so much more than I expected. From the emotional moments to the dance party, I was completely hooked.

It was that day that changed everything for me. There was something so meaningful about capturing the little moments that would have otherwise been completely lost.

In 2019, I graduated with my B.S. in Film Production. By then, I had filmed so many of my friends' and family's weddings, and I was ready to explore the world and see where it would take me (and, if I'm honest, I was also ready to leave the cold).

I knew the Utah mountains would always be there to come back to, but I was craving a change of scenery.

So I packed my bags and headed to....

I road-tripped across the country in my little Kia Soul and landed in the sunshine state.

It was in Florida that I discovered beach weddings. There's something really awesome about kicking off your heels, feeling the sand in your toes and watching the sun dip below the ocean.

Florida!

It didn't take long before I realized I wanted more of this; more ocean, more stories in places with bright colors and sunshine.

So I packed up once again and flew across the Pacific Ocean to the islands of Hawai'i.

I started my LLC, Taylor Renee Films, and soon found myself spending every weekend capturing a new story. One of the things I've loved most about filming weddings in Hawai'i is the diversity. Couples travel from all around the world to get married in this incredible place, and I've had the privilege of documenting so many different kinds of love stories, while meeting people from all over the world along the way.

I also picked up sailing and joined a race team, spending my time off out in the water between islands.

This sport fueled my love of adventure and travel. It had me dreaming about new coastlines and new places to explore.

Before long, I found myself on more flights, traveling across the country with my camera.

Living on this island taught me to slow down and notice things differently. I learned how to appreciate the beauty of nature, and to care for it in the same way it cares for us.

My passion blossomed here on the island of O'ahu.

Eventually, California became another home base. The coast offered a different kind of energy; close to the ocean, but fast moving.

Now, I find myself living between the island and the Cali coast, moving between two places that both feel like home.

No matter where I've lived, my passion for capturing weddings hasn't changed. Every time I get to tell someone's love story, I fall in love with the process all over again.
